The 8th Annual I-Drive 5k Run will take place on Saturday, May 8th at 7:30 am to benefit the YMCA Aquatic Center Learn to Swim Scholarship program. In 2009 , the I-Drive 5K was well attended by 1,184 runners and 2,000 spectators. Runners enjoyed being a tourist for a day in their own backyard while helping raise $15,000 to go towards the Central Florida YMCA Aquatic & Family Center’s Learn to Swim Scholarship Fund. Each year the Central Florida YMCA teaches aquatics and swim safety to more than 17,000 children locally, at twenty-seven pools in a six county area. Through this fund, children, families, and seniors receive YMCA scholarships so that they can participate in these health and character-based programs during periods of financial challenge.
