It is no secret that the heat can take a lot out of you but fueling your body with adequate nutrition and smart meal choices can make all the difference! One of the most important yet difficult things to do is to stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water will help make you feel more energized and will ensure that you don’t get dehydrated during your day of fun! Bringing a small backpack with water bottles, or a refillable water bottle are always great options to ensure you have water close by. But, there are plenty of spots on International Drive to stop into and grab some water during your exploring. When it’s time to eat, try to seek out lighter options like fruits and salads, this will help you fuel your body while not slowing you down like a heavy hot meal can do! Or, if you’re craving something a little sweeter, a stop at one of the many ice cream parlors on I-Drive will do the trick!

Timing is Everything

The heat of the day usually reaches its peak around noon to 4 pm. But luckily, during the hottest hours, there are plenty of indoor activities that you can take advantage of to keep cool! Maybe stop for lunch during this time and try out one of the many indoor attractions, catch a movie, or even hit the shops at one of the malls on I-Drive! We assure you taking advantage of some ice-cold A/C during these hours will make all the difference and will ensure that you have the energy to keep going once the heat begins to subside again!

Getting Ready for Your Day

Short sleeves, tank tops and light clothes and colors are all musts when you’re exploring in the summer heat, so be sure to pack all your lightest clothing choices. There are also a few things you should consider bringing with you before you leave for an exciting day on I-Drive during summer time! They are as follows:

  • Sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun rays
  • An Umbrella or hat to block the sun
  • A Poncho to keep dry during those afternoon showers
  • Sunglasses to protect your eyes
  • Some cool tools: A spray bottle, small personal fan, or thermal-cool neck wrap

Grab a small backpack, load up your beat the heat essentials, and you’ll be ready for anything the summer heat throws your way!

Jump In

There’s a reason that there is no shortage of pools on International Drive. Whether you’re staying at one of the hotels on I-Drive and make some time for lounging around poolside and taking a dip (or jumping) into the pool to cool off, or you’re heading to one of the many water parks; getting wet will help keep your body temperature down, leaving you feeling cool and refreshed! If taking a swim sounds like a great way to cool down, be sure to check out some of the resort area’s hotel pools, and check out one of the many water parks, like SeaWorld’s Aquatica!
