The funds, raised by over 800 registered runners and event sponsors, will benefit kids and families by ensuring that swimming is an accessible and safe life long skill available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. The Central Florida YMCA is a leader in water safety and swimming programs and each year they teach more than 17,000 children how to swim. The I-Drive 5K Run began in 2002 and has since grown with over 1,300 attendees this year. Major sponsors include Pointe Orlando, International Drive Improvement District, Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, SeaWorld, Orange County Convention Center, ETC of Central Florida, Kiehl’s, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Orange County Fire & Rescue.

The 6th Annual I-Drive 5K Run was held on May 10, 2008. This 3.1-mile course took runners (and walkers!) through the heart of the International Drive Resort area. Prizes included I-Drive Fun Packages with attraction tickets, gift certificates, merchandise and more!

A commemorative t-shirt was given to each runner along with gift bags of merchandise and special offers from Orlando's tourism and hospitality community. Proceeds from the run benefit the International Drive YMCA Aquatic & Family Center Scholarship Fund.
