In addition to finding the right accommodations for you and your pet from among the many offered in the I-Drive area, the following tips will make traveling with your pet easy and enjoyable:
  • Check with specific accommodations to make sure they are “pet friendly.” Ask about extra charges for your pet to stay in your hotel room. Inquire about rules for leaving your pet alone during the day. Ask about areas for walking.
  • Visit the vet before your trip and pick up inoculation records. Many accommodations will require them. Ask your vet to recommend a vet in the area you will be traveling and make a note of the phone number.
  • Make sure your pet is wearing identification that includes: pet's name, your name and address and a phone number. Make sure it is a cell phone and not your home phone.
  • Bring items that are familiar to your pet: a pet bed, blanket, favorite toy and their favorite treats to help them feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings.
